Following an announcement last fall, Volkswagen of America has released additional information about the Taos SE Black.
A new addition for 2024, the SE Black trim embraces the blackout trend with black wheels, a black roof, dark exterior accents, as well as an illuminated grille.
Interior changes are limited, but designers decided to throw in a handful of special touches. Highlights include gloss black trim and blue contrast stitching.

Pricing starts at $30,365 and climbs to $32,015 with all-wheel drive. That’s a slight premium over the Taos SE, which begins at $28,165 and climbs to $29,615 when equipped with 4MOTION.
The Taos is Volkswagen’s entry-level crossover in America and is powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine. It develops 158 hp (118 kW / 160 PS) and 184 lb-ft (249 Nm) of torque. Front-wheel drive variants have an eight-speed automatic transmission, while all-wheel drive models sport a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

In other news, Volkswagen confirmed the Taos is getting a facelift for 2025. The company isn’t saying much about the updated model at this point, but it could loosely follow in the footsteps of the facelifted Tharu.
If that’s the case, we can expect a rugged front fascia and updated lighting units. The Tharu also sports a modern cabin with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a freestanding 12-inch infotainment system. That being said, it’s unclear how many, if any, of the updates will be applied to the 2025 Taos.
