Owners of 2023 Cadillac Lyriq models will soon receive software update aimed at enhancing the functionality of the universal remote and glove box controls. Unfortunately, this will not be accessible as an over-the-air (OTA) update.

Cadillac will provide dealerships with more information about the update next week and then start notifying Lyriq owners when they will be able to schedule an appointment. Although the update is minor, it will enhance the convenience of universal remote and glove box controls while also accelerating myCadillac mobile app remote commands.

2023 Cadillac Lyriq Gets A Software Update, But It Won’t Be An OTA

“Just like many of our technologies today receive regular updates with new features and improvements, the Cadillac Lyric will too,” Cadillac Vice President John Roth told Auto News. “This means Lyric owners will have the most up-to-date technology in their car, including the latest infotainment offerings, performance enhancements, and more.”

This is not the first time Cadillac has improved functionality or added features to the Lyriq. Last September, the automaker introduced an over-the-air software update that could increase torque from 450 lb-ft (610 Nm) to 524 lb-ft (710 Nm).

This additional grunt allows the Lyriq to shave off 0.3 seconds into the sprint to 60 mph (96 km/h) and it can now hit that mark in 4.4 seconds. This update set back shoppers $1,200 and while that’s quite a lot, you’d be hard-pressed to extract an additional 74 lb-ft (100 Nm) from an ICE car for $1,200.

Last year was the first full year that the Lyriq was on sale in the United States. Cadillac managed to sell 9,154 units, a solid figure but trailing the Tesla Model X, Rivian R1S, BMW iX, and Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV.
