The Cadillac Escalade stands as a definitive flagship model in the realm of American SUVs, and as such, an all-electric version is set to debut later this year. Dubbed the Escalade iQ, it promises to offer luxuries previously unseen in a Cadillac product within this particular segment.
Now, news is breaking that it will also receive a stretched version called the iQL, promising an even more gargantuan presence.
Cadillac unveiled the Escalade iQ in August of last year, leaving very little to the imagination. For example, it boasts up to 750 hp (559 kW), a towing capacity of up to 8,000 pounds (3,629 kg), and a starting price of $130,000. Another interesting detail we learned is that it will be just 2.7 inches (69 mm) shorter than the current Escalade ESV.

Despite its size being nearly as large as the gasoline-burning ESV, one Cadillac representative indicates that it will have a bigger sibling, akin to the current version. Named the Escalade iQL (quite imaginative, Cadillac), it is expected to hit the market sometime after the launch of the standard Escalade iQ later this year. Deliveries could commence in late 2024 or early 2025.
What the Cadillac representative didn’t disclose to Car and Driver was the exact extent of the lengthening for this new version. Interestingly, Jeep similarly employs the “L” designation to denote long-wheelbase variants of its SUVs.
If Cadillac follows Jeep not just in nomenclature but also in design, we might anticipate the Escalade iQL gaining approximately seven inches in wheelbase and 12 inches in overall length. After all, that’s the difference between the Wagoneer and the Wagoneer L variants.
