Authorities responded to the scene at New Smyrna Beach in Florida , where they encountered a man driving a white RAM pickup onto the closed beach and straight into the surf. After confronting the driver, they apprehended the individual. What’s surprising, though, is that he’s only facing a single charge, and it’s likely not the one you’re imagining.
The man in question is Jason Brzuszkiewicz, and police are uncertain of the exact time he accessed the beach, but they are sure that he drove around a closed gate. What’s worse is that the gate prominently displayed a sign reading “DO NOT ENTER.” Despite this warning, Brzuszkiewicz proceeded to drive his Ram pickup truck onto the beach and into the surf.

Bystanders caught his actions on camera as he went deep into the ocean. Somehow, the truck never got stuck despite what appeared to be very reckless behavior on the part of its driver. In other cases, far less reckless-looking driving has resulted in days of retrieval efforts as crews have to pull a vehicle from open water.
In this case, though, Brzuszkiewicz managed to get his truck out of the ocean before it was too late. “It’s not my fault the truck don’t surf,” he told police. Bodycam footage shows him somewhat playful with officers as he tells them that he thought he was in England and asks if he can get in trouble for his actions.
“Am I getting in trouble for that?” “Yeah,” the deputy responded.
Somehow, words associated with DUI, DWI, or any other type of intoxication are absent from the police report. It would appear then that Mr. Brzuszkiewicz did what he did with a clear mind. What we don’t know is exactly why he decided to do this. His antics appear to be similar to those one might see on a commercial and he didn’t appear to have a set goal in mind either.
He’s now facing just one charge, a “failure to pay vehicular access fee” and went to jail on a $200 bond.
