Maserati will celebrate leap day by introducing the redesigned GranCabrio on February 29.
Originally teased in 2022, the convertible will follow in the footsteps of the latest GranTurismo and sport an evolutionary design with soft curves and flowing surfaces. We can also expect the drop top to ride on staggered 20- and 21-inch wheels.
The interior will take a dramatic leap forward thanks to higher quality materials and modern technology. Speaking of the latter, we can expect a 12.2-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch infotainment system, and an 8.8-inch lower display. They should be joined by a head-up display, a digital rearview mirror, and a digital clock with three skins as well as compass, accelerator, stopwatch, and G-force displays.
Maserati recently confirmed the ICE-powered variant will be the first out of the gate and it should have a twin-turbo 3.0-liter Nettuno V6, an eight-speed automatic transmission, and a standard all-wheel drive system. The entry-level Modena trim should be rated at 483 hp (360 kW / 490 PS) and 442 lb-ft (600 Nm) of torque. In the coupe, it allows for a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) time of 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 188 mph (302 km/h).
Buyers looking for extra oomph can expect a Trofeo variant with 542 hp (405 kW / 550 PS) and 479 lb-ft (650 Nm) of torque. It cuts the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) time to 3.5 seconds for the coupe, while also increasing the top speed to 199 mph (320 km/h).

Later this year, the lineup will be expanded to include the GranCabrio Folgore. It should have a tri-motor powertrain with 751 hp (560 kW / 761 PS) and 996 lb-ft (1,350 Nm) of torque. This enables the coupe to rocket from 0-62 mph (100 km/h) in 2.7 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 202 mph (325 km/h).
The coupe also has a 92.5 kWh battery pack, which provides a WLTP range of 280 miles (450 km). When the battery is low, a 270 kW DC fast charger can deliver 62 miles (100 km) of range in as little as five minutes.
We’ll learn more about the GranCabrio next week, but the model won’t be cheap as the coupe begins at $158,000.
