With its massive array of spoilers promising great gobs of downforce, fat, soft-compound, semi-slick tires and an engine slung out beyond the rear axle helping push them into the pavement, you’d think Porsche’s 911.2 GT2 RS would be almost impossible to unstick.

But all of those features are optimized to work on smooth, dry racetracks, not bumpy, wet public roads. And not when a tuner has adding significantly to the stock 691 hp (700 PS) pony count.

We’re not sure how much power DME Tuning Florida’s Stage 2+ package adds, but whatever it is, it’s too much for the Porsche and its driver to handle on a damp day in the Sunshine State.

Right at the start of the video we can see spots of rain on the windshield, but that hasn’t put the driver off dipping aggressively into the throttle, then lifting off just as hard, which is asking for trouble. The Porsche promptly delivers that trouble, slewing sideways towards the barrier at the side of the road. By the time it makes contact it’s spun through 180 degrees, meaning it’s the driver’s side that suffers the majority of the damage.

The RS eventually comes to rest facing mostly in the right direction, but halfway into the road. And while it looks like the damage could have been much worse, we can see that the left rear wheel is snapped and pointing at a very unnatural angle, and not just because the GT2 comes standard with rear-axle steering.

What struck us is how calm the guy riding shotgun stayed throughout. While the driver quickly realizes that he’s effectively a passenger and can do nothing but yell bad words and “totaled!,” the real passenger keeps his cool and keeps filming the whole thing. But then he’s not the one who’s trashing a $350k Porsche.
