Porsche Design has unveiled a special version of the innovative Honor Magic V2, the world’s thinnest foldable smartphone. The Porsche variant, dubbed the RSR, benefits from a series of unique styling touches while retaining the same hardware as the standard device. Sales started in China last month and it will become available in other markets later this year.
The German brands’ design studio has crafted a new shell for the phone that includes a pronounced ‘flyline’ inspired by the hood of a Porsche 911. In addition, the Honor Magic V2 is finished in a shade of Agate Grey from the Porsche color palette and the rear camera housing now includes a dark titanium frame with a trapezoidal redesign.
All Magic V2 RSRs will ship with a stylus inside the box as well as a protective case. Honor has also equipped the device with 1TB of storage, as opposed to 512GB, and has also fitted a screen with an industry-first ‘Anti-scratch NanoCrystal Shield’ that provides improved scratch resistance. Changes made to the Porsche Design version have added 3g, meaning the Honor V2 RSR now weighs 235 grams, which remains class-leading.

“From day one of this extraordinary partnership, we have been eagerly awaiting the reveal of our first jointly developed smartphone,” chairman of the executive board of Porsche Lifestyle Group, Stefan Buescher said.
“At Porsche Design, we want to bring the unique Porsche spirit and values to life through our products. Anyone who buys a Porsche Design item becomes part of the global Porsche family. Our goal is to transport this emotion as well as the progressive functionality, cutting-edge technology, and the unique design language to customers around the globe,” he added.
Powering the Porsche Design Honor Magic V2 RSR is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor and 16GB of RAM. It incorporates a 7.92-inch foldable OLED screen and a 6.43-inch exterior OLED display. Honor has also gone all-out with the device’s camera setup, installing a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 20-megapixel telephoto camera.
In China, the smartphone will set back buyers 15,999 yuan (~$2,200), but that figure will likely rise for international markets.
