Audi has officially confirmed that the all-new, all-electric Q6 e-tron will have its big day on March 18th. The accompanying teaser doesn’t reveal much beyond the SUV’s silhouette, but we’ve already spotted a nearly naked prototype roaming the streets of Germany, giving us a clear glimpse of what to expect.
While the design isn’t much of a surprise at this point, we can see a fully enclosed grille that is flanked by split lighting units and sizable air intakes. The former are notable as customers will be able to choose between eight digital light signatures to show the daytime running light design of their choice.
Moving further back, we can see soft curves and muscular accents. Designers also eschewed the flush-mounted door handle craze as old school components reign supreme. They’re joined by an upward sweeping beltline, a sloping roof, and an expansive greenhouse. The rear end is relatively tame by comparison, but it combines a sizable spoiler with second-generation digital OLED taillights.

Spy photographers didn’t get close enough to snap interior pictures, but Audi revealed the cabin at last year’s Munich Motor Show. It’s a high-tech affair as the model has an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.5-inch infotainment system running Android Automotive. The crossover can also be equipped with a 10.9-inch front passenger display, which has shutter technology to prevent driver distraction.
Other highlights include an augmented reality head-up display, which projects information, such as directions, in such a way that it appears to be up to 656 feet (200 meters) in front of the vehicle. The model can also be equipped with a 22-speaker Bang & Olufsen premium audio system and an interaction light bar, which wraps around the upper dashboard and visualizes information such as turn signals and charging status. Buyers can also get recycled Elastic Melange fabric and brushed aluminum, birch or sweetgum trim.
Powertrain and batteries
Like the Porsche Macan EV, the Q6 e-tron rides on the new Premium Platform Electric (PPE). It’s slated to have a 100 kWh battery pack and a 270 kW DC fast charging capability that will enable the model to go from a 10-80% charge in less than 30 minutes.
The battery is slated to feed a dual-motor all-wheel drive system producing a combined output of around 375 hp (280 kW / 380 PS). The model should also have a WLTP range of 373 miles (600 km).
Buyers looking for more performance can expect a SQ6 with an output of 483 hp (360 kW / 490 PS). A boost function temporarily increases performance and should enable the model to hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in less than 4.5 seconds.
Sales of the new Q6 E-tron that will be offered as a 2025 model year in North America, are anticipated to commence in the second half of the year. Pricing is estimated to start around the mid-$60,000 range, making it a more affordable option compared to the new Porsche Macan EV, which starts at $80,450.
