BMW XM owners just got another option for upgrading their SUV, this time from AC Schnitzer. The German tuner dressed the XM with a more aggressive aero, fitted a new set of 23-inch wheels, lowered the suspension, and gave the V8 a power boost bringing the standard model to Label Red territory.
AC Schnitzer tweaked the controversial design of the BMW XM by adding a prominent splitter, aerodynamic flicks on the front bumper, a rear wing, and extra fins on the rear diffuser. The Aachen-based firm introduced the new AC5 Flowforming wheels measuring 23 inches in diameter. The rims feature double Y-shaped spokes and are available with a silver/black or gloss black finish. Interior upgrades are limited to aluminum pedals and new gear shift paddles.

AC Schnitzer
The flagship model from BMW M sits closer to the ground by 20- 25 mm (0.8-1 inches) thanks to AC Schnitzer’s lowering springs. Furthermore, a set of black anodized aluminum wheel spacers adds 10 mm (0.4 inches) of width per side, further enhancing the sporty stance.
AC Schnitzer did some tweaking on the twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 side of the plug-in hybrid system. The company didn’t get into specifics about the kind of modifications that result in a combined output of 741 hp (552 kW / 751 PS) and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of torque, representing an increase of 97 HP (72 kW / 98 PS) and 100 Nm (73.8 lb-ft) compared to the stock unit. Interestingly, the output is incrementally higher than the flagship XM Label Red which makes 738 hp (748 PS / 550 kW) right from the factory, but the torque can’t match the 1,000 Nm (737.6 lb-ft) figure.
AC Schnitzer has yet to announce the cost of the upgrades. Note that similar kits for the BMW XM are already available from rival tuners including Renegade Design, Mansory, Larte Design, Venuum and more recently Manhart giving a variety of options to those interested in the aftermarket world.
