Icon 4×4 has established itself as one of the leaders of off-roader restomods and a 1969 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser it built back in 2017 will soon hit the auction block. If you have a burning desire to own an awesome example of one of the most iconic versions of Land Cruiser, this could be the perfect opportunity.
As with all of Icon 4×4’s other projects, it has modified every aspect of the Toyota. It is now fitted with powder-coated gray aluminum bodywork that makes it look brand new. It also has a set of aftermarket wheels finished in black and rocks a set of bright red Wilwood brake calipers.
There is also a black fabric roof, mud-terrain tires, a Warn winch, a reversing camera, AMP Research side steps, and an aluminum radiator. A large LED light bar has also been installed above the windshield.

Like any Land Cruiser from this era, the cabin is quite basic. But that doesn’t mean it is uncomfortable. There is black leather upholstery with Chilewich cloth inserts, an Ididit tilt steering column, heated front bucket seats, and a custom sound system. While this probably isn’t the vehicle you would choose for a cross-country road trip, it would be up for such an arduous task.
V8 for the win!
Then there’s the engine. It’s big. It’s powerful. It’s a V8. While a turbocharger four-cylinder would be plenty for a restomod FJ40, this one is rocking a 5.7-liter Vortec V8 coupled to an Aisin AX15 five-speed manual transmission and a transfer case. Mecum Auctions hasn’t said how much power the V8 has but we’re sure it has transformed how this off-roader drives. It’s also bound to sound fantastic.
The off-roader will be available on Saturday, April 6th at a sales event in Houston. If you want it, you’d better get the funds ready as we’re sure they’ll be loads of interested bidders.
