A set of cryptic photos circulating online has sparked speculation about a partially concealed BMW seen within a trailer. Could this be a sneak peek at the upcoming BMW iX3, slated for production in 2025 and built upon the Neue Klasse architecture?
While the mystery vehicle remains largely obscured by a white cover, its elevated ground clearance and proportions strongly suggest an SUV silhouette. Notably, the prominent wheels feature a new five-spoke design, indicating a near-production state. Further hints of its SUV pedigree emerge with sculpted fenders and a short front overhang with a and a front bumper adorned with rugged plastic cladding.

The photos were originally captured by Ajbr.Photography and shared on Instagram by Wilco Blok. Another vehicle transported in the same trailer appears to be the Vision Neue Klasse sedan from September 2023 or possibly an updated version, hinting at BMW’s intention to unveil the two concepts together. It’s likely that this unveiling will take place at the BMW Group Annual Conference 2024, scheduled for March 21st.
The successor to the BMW iX3, codenamed NA5, has been spotted in prototype form on public roads since last fall, showcasing several familiar styling cues. These include headlights seamlessly integrated with the kidney grille, flush door handles, and a greenhouse reminiscent of the iX model, complete with the distinctive Hofmeister kink on the C-pillars. Notably, the interior will feature the Panoramic Vision head-up display, set to become a standard feature across upcoming BMW models.
As for its underpinnings, we already know that the Neue Klasse architecture will integrate 800-volt technology. The upcoming battery generation is poised to deliver an impressive range of approximately 800 km (500 miles), supporting ultra-fast charging capabilities. These batteries will also boast a smaller, lighter, more dense, and environmentally cleaner production process. BMW is likely to provide the successor to the iX3 with both single and dual powertrain options, with the possibility of introducing an M-branded performance flagship.
We anticipate gaining further insights into the concept at the BMW Group Annual Conference later this month. With any luck, our spy photographers will capture additional details before the event.
