Low-production Porsche models often go to only those with the best connections to the brand. The Porsche 911 Sport Classic is one of those halo cars that’s hard to obtain because in some cases, it’s not just about how much money one has. Now, a “used” example just popped up for sale on Bring a Trailer and whoever has the most cash wins, connections be damned.
The Sport Classic is unique for several reasons. Porsche limited production to 1,250 examples. It has a ducktail spoiler that harkens back to the 1973 Carrera 2.7 RS. Under its rear hatch is the same sort of engine one finds in the 911 Turbo but with 542 hp and 442 lb-ft (600 Nm) of torque.
That’s significantly down on power compared to the Turbo, but the Sport Classic makes up for it in other ways. Namely in the fact that it’s rear-wheel drive and is only available with three pedals and a seven-speed manual gearbox. If those things aren’t cool enough by themselves, this particular example comes with some beautiful bespoke options.

The paint is a custom paint-to-sample shade dubbed “Underberg Green”, likely a reference to the digestive bitters meant for use after a large meal. The interior features Cognac leather with gorgeous “Pepita-style” (don’t call them simple Houndstooth) inserts. Frankly, it looks stunning and it should considering it has just 10 miles on the odometer.
It’s now available over on Bring A Trailer and comes complete with a plaque on the dash that denotes this car as the 256th in the production run. It’ll arrive at its new owner with a window sticker, a car cover, and a key finished in the same color as the car itself.
Notably, this Porsche is going to come at a premium despite technically being a used car. As our Editor in Chief rightly predicted in 2022, these cars would trade hands on the second-hand market at well beyond their original MSRP. As of this writing, it’s been bid up to $450,000 and has almost a week remaining in the auction.
Don’t count on it, but if no other bids surface, it’ll sell for $157,440 over its MSRP of $292,560. Surely, the next owner can afford some Underberg Bitters to settle their stomach after spending near or over half a million bucks on a Porsche 911 that’s nowhere near as fast as they come these days.
If your wallet can handle it, you can place your bid over at BaT here.
