- The EZ-6 is Mazda’s third production vehicle to be offered with a battery-electric powertrain.
- Technical specifications for the sleek sedan have yet to be announced.
- Mazda also premiered the Arata concept at the show, previewing the EZ-60 SUV.
There’s a new mid-size electric Mazda hitting the streets, but unfortunately, it’s not aimed at us—it’s tailored for the Chinese market. Serving as a successor to the combustion Mazda6, the new EZ-6 debuted on the global stage at the Beijing Auto Show.
From the outside, the EZ-6 looks like a Mazda product but is based on the same EPA1 architecture as the Deepal SL03 sedan produced by Mazda’s Chinese joint venture partner Changan. Production of the new model will kick off before the end of this year. It is just the third battery-electric vehicle from Mazda and will also be available with a range-extender (RE) powertrain.

The EZ-6 is 4,921 mm (193.7 inches) long, 1,890 mm (74.4 inches) wide, and stands 1,485 mm (58.4 inches) tall, and in BEV guise, will have a perfect 50:50 weight distribution. Mazda has not yet provided technical specifications for the BEV or range-extender versions of the EZ-6, other than a claim the BEV will have a range of approximately 373 miles (600 km) while the RE will be able to travel over 621 miles (1,000 km) on a single tank of fuel. The EZ-6 comes standard with front strut suspension and multi-link suspension at the rear.
It’s likely the Deepal SL03’s electric powertrains will be offered in the EZ-6. It is available with 58.9 kWh and 66.8 kWh battery packs driving a rear electric motor in 215 hp (160 kW) and 236 lb-ft (320 Nm) form as well as a 255 hp (190 kW) and 236 lb-ft (320 Nm) option.
The car adopts Mazda’s ‘Soul of Motion’ design philosophy with a dynamic fascia, slim LED headlights, and a bold grille. Unsurprisingly, the overall shape of the sedan is very similar to Deepal’s product and this extends to the rear where there is a similarly short tailgate and eye-catching lights. The interior also shares many components with its SL03 sibling.
Key features of the cabin include a 14.6-inch infotainment display and a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster. There is also a flat-bottom steering wheel, a bespoke center console, slim air vents, and an ambient lighting system.
Mazda EZ-6 Specs
Mazda says the EZ-6 will launch with safety and convenience technologies including accident mitigation systems and an intelligent parking system that allows the car to be operated by voice even when the driver is outside.
Premiering alongside the EZ-6 in Beijing is the Mazda Arata concept. This sleek SUV previews a battery-electric SUV that’ll be known as the EZ-60. Changan Mazda says it will launch this second electrified model by the end of 2025.
