Global Conversions, a company based in the United Arab Emirates, has just started converting GMC Hummer EV models to right-hand drive and handed over the keys to the first customer car.
Given that the Hummer EV only sells in relatively small numbers, it doesn’t make much financial sense for GM to produce it in both left- and right-hand configurations. As such, Global Conversions has taken it upon itself to make the electric behemoth suited for markets driving on the other side of the road. The first Hummer EV it has converted to right-hand drive is an SUV model finished in matte green.

The company hasn’t provided all that many details about the process of switching the GMC Hummer‘s steering wheel to the other side but says it has rewired the electrical systems and completely redesigned the interior layout to make it feel like the EV left the factory in right-hand drive.
Each conversion takes approximately 27 days or less, with the company claiming their work meets internationally recognized standards. The company, originally located in Sri Lanka before moving to UAE, says it can export converted Hummer EVs to 77 different RHD markets, including Australia, South Africa, India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Thailand, and New Zealand.

Global Conversions hasn’t said how much it costs to convert a GMC Hummer EV to right-hand drive but we suspect it is very expensive, especially since each model can take almost a month to build.
