- Auto China kicks off next week and German brands are looking to make a splash.

Audi is gearing up to unveil a handful of new models at Auto China later this month. Among them is the all-new Q6L e-tron, which will be unveiled on April 24 during Volkswagen Group Night.
The company is keeping details under wraps, but they released a handful of teaser images showing the electric crossover beneath a sheet. Unfortunately, it’s hard to judge how much the wheelbase has been extended.

The model will be built at the new Audi FAW NEV factory in Changchun and will presumably share powertrains with the standard model. If it echoes the European variant, we can expect a 100 kWh battery pack as well as a dual-motor all-wheel drive system with 382 hp (285 kW / 387 PS).
Besides the long-wheelbase variant, Audi will show the SQ6 as well as a “Q5 e-tron RS edition for the Chinese market.” The automaker will also present a “roadmap for the electric transformation of its offering[s] in China.”
We can expect to learn more next week, but Audi noted they’re embracing a local approach that will see vehicles built in China for China. Audi CEO Gernot Döllner said this is important as “The Chinese market is central to the transformation of the Audi brand into a leading global provider of premium electric mobility.”
In other news, BMW will use the show to introduce the facelifted i4 as well as the Mini Aceman. The latter isn’t much of a surprise at this point, as it was revealed by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology last month, but the i4 will be certifiably fresh.
Previous spy photos have show the EV will follow in the footsteps of the facelifted 4-Series and adopt an assortment of relatively minor changes including new head- and taillights. We can also expect updated wheels, a revised color palette, and some small interior tweaks.
