- A BMW M2 rounding a blind a corner ends up driving into oncoming traffic.
- The M2 ends up clattering into an unwitting Ford Mustang headed in the opposite direction.
- Both vehicles suffered significant damage in the accident.
We all have biases, and I think that we can all agree that whenever we see the words Ford, Mustang, and accident together in a headline, we assume we know who to blame. But this crash may subvert your expectations.
In a new video posted on several social media channels the past few days, including @bimma_world on Instagram and Killacam on YouTube, the Mustang is the innocent party in a collision with a new BMW M2. While the posts do not indicate where the crash occurred, comments suggest that it took place around the famous Tail of the Dragon, near the Tennessee-North Carolina border.

We join the action following the M2 as it enters a corner slowly. That may seem like a good thing, since speed is no doubt responsible for a lot of accidents on roads like these, but it doesn’t prevent a crash here.
That’s because, for some reason, the BMW looks to be driving over the yellow lines in the middle of the road. Some commenters suggest that it may have been setting itself up for a drift, which certainly seems possible, but it’s hard to know for sure.
Whatever was going on, the BMW winds up out of its lane entering a blind corner, right where a Mustang coming in the opposite direction wasn’t expecting to find a car. Although the Ford tries to take evasive action, ending up on the shoulder, that’s not enough to prevent the two sports cars from clattering into each other.
Fortunately, the accident appears to have happened at a low enough speed to keep serious injuries to the drivers from being a concern, but it was quick enough to cause some serious injuries to the vehicles.
As the Mustang drives past the M2, we can see damage to the Ford’s driver side door, and that part of the BMW’s bumper has been torn off. A shot of the aftermath shows that the M2’s front end has suffered some meaningful damage.
It always sucks to see two fun cars hit each other, but this crash seems like it was particularly avoidable. The only silver lining is that there might be some fun cars heading to a Copart auction soon.
