Police in Ann Arbor, Michigan responded to an unusual accident on Friday as a Dodge Charger got stuck on a No Parking sign. However, this wasn’t your run-of-the-mill crash as the car was nearly vertical.
According to the police department, officers responded to a report of a crash at around 3:40 a.m. When they arrived at the scene, they saw the unusual sight as well as four females who had already escaped the vehicle.

An investigation was launched and police determined the 24-year-old driver “struck a cable attached to a pole.” This apparently sent the vehicle flying into the air, where it landed on top of the street sign.
No one was injured in the crash and the car appears to be in surprisingly good shape. However, it’s worth noting the woman apparently just bought the car from Hertz as it has a temporary plate.
On top of crashing her ‘new’ car, the woman was arrested for operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol content of .17% or more. That’s more than twice the legal limit and this can carry stiff penalties including thousands in fees and fines, up to a one year license suspension, and up to 180 days in jail.
Police used the unusual crash to remind people about the dangers of drunk driving. As they said, it was “very fortunate there were no serious injuries in this incident” but “always plan for a sober ride home – NEVER drive buzzed or drunk.”
