- The company had been running a campaign on X focused on its efforts to combat climate change.

- Elon Musk has refuted claims that antisemitism is rife across his social media platform.
Hyundai has halted advertisements on X and has concerns with brand safety issues on the platform. This news comes shortly after it was revealed that Tesla has spent $200,000 through February advertising on Elon Musk’s social media platform.
Last week, a paid Hyundai advertisement promoting its electric vehicle plans was seen positioned above an antisemitic post from a verified X account. This post denied the holocaust and said “Judaism = Satanism.” An X user alerted Hyundai to the issue and the carmaker immediately removed the advertisement from the site.

“We have paused our ads on X and are speaking to X directly about brand safety to ensure this issue is addressed,” the carmaker said in a statement to CNN. The head of business operations at X, Joe Benarroch, added that the site had suspended the account responsible for the antisemitic post.
According to Benarroch, Hyundai has been running a campaign on X focused on climate change ads that it hopes to reach policymakers. He said the campaign took place without X’s direct sales team and did not activate its Brand Safety settings that allow advertisers to ensure their ads don’t run alongside posts they may find distasteful or offensive.
A plethora of other major companies paused advertising on X late last year when Musk seemed to endorse an antisemitic theory supported by some white supremacists.
While advertisers leaving the platform will hurt X, it is at least generating some money through Tesla advertisements. The electric carmaker revealed in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing this week that it had spent $200,000 on advertising on X through February this year.
Elon Musk has been famously opposed to Tesla advertising its products, previously stating the firm prefers to spend its money on building great products. However, the company has embraced advertising in recent months, also running campaigns on Google, Instagram, and YouTube.
