- Alpine will launch in the U.S. in 2027 with an electric SUV.
- The updated Alpenglow Concept has a tweaked design for improved aero.
- Limited details about the car’s hydrogen-fueled powertrain have been confirmed.
It has been 18 months since the dramatic Alpine Alpenglow Concept was unveiled and the French automaker has just revealed it will soon take a running example to the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps for a series of demonstration laps.
The Alpenglow Concept is one of the most dramatic concept cars unveiled in the brand’s history, first shown at the Paris Motor Show in October 2022. We never thought we would see the day when it turns a wheel and runs, let alone is taken around one of the world’s most famous racetracks.

A teaser released by the French carmaker shows that a few changes have inevitably been made to the dramatic exterior design to make the concept ready for some track action. For example, we can see a new front splitter, reshaped air intakes, and a hood scoop, which is paired with a large roof scoop as well.
Alpine has remained coy about the concept’s powertrain since it was first unveiled. We know it is “hydrogen-powered” and uses an internal combustion engine, rather than being a typical hydrogen-fueled EV. Toyota has established itself as the leading proponent of hydrogen-fueled engines but Renault has also experimented with the technology and Alpine is working on it too.
The company will first present the updated Alpenglow Concept on May 10 and put it on static display. It will then complete three laps of the circuit on May 11.
This year has been quite exciting for Alpine in the endurance racing world. In March, two examples of its new A424 LMDh hypercar made their racing debut at the Qatar 1812 KM, finishing 7th and 11th.
