- Lingenfelter, Paragon Performance, and Trifecta have created the world’s first supercharged Corvette E-Ray.
- Making 734 hp and 792 lb-ft of torque at the wheels, it now has 161 more horses, and 162 extra lb-ft of torque than the standard model.
- Despite the modifications, the car’s hybrid powertrain still works as it did from the factory.
Lingenfelter is so familiar with modifying Corvettes that its name is almost synonymous with the American sports car. However, Chevy’s latest version is a hybrid, which posed some new challenges for the tuning house. Now, it has overcome them with the help of some friends, and the result is the world’s first supercharged Corvette E-Ray
To get around some of the technical challenges facing it, the tuning company turned to Trifecta, with whom it cracked the Corvette Stingray’s operating system, as well as Paragon Performance, to make the build work. In the meantime, it got to business removing the engine to make some mechanical modifications.

In addition to a Magnuson TVS2650 Stage 1 C8 Supercharger package, the car’s 6.2-liter V8 received forged pistons, modified valve springs, and upgraded pushrods. That was all familiar work for the company, but there were some unique challenges on this build.
For instance, when it tunes a Stingray, Lingenfelter hides the cooling reservoir in the center tunnel, but in the hybrid Corvette, there are batteries there. As a result, the company had to find a new place for the tank, and build a custom one.
The hybridized C8 also received a center-exit exhaust system and new intakes from Paragon, which was originally commissioned to start this project by one of its best customers, a guy called Stephen. As per his request, the car’s hybrid system works just as it did from the factory, though the car now makes more power.
When the team first put the stock Corvette E-Ray on the dyno, it made 573 hp (427 kW / 581 PS) and 630 lb-ft (854 Nm) of torque at the wheels. After the upgrades, the supercharged Corvette E-Ray makes 734 hp (547 kW / 744 PS) and 792 lb-ft (1,074 Nm) of torque on the dyno, or an extra 161 hp (120 kW / 163 PS) and 162 lb-ft (220 Nm) of torque. That translates to a 0-60 mph (96 km/h) time of two seconds flat, a 0.5 second improvement over what Chevy says for the stock model (2.5 seconds).

Maybe this version of the car would stand a better chance against the McLaren 750S than the standard version.
