Honda unveiled the facelifted version of the Civic in hatchback and sedan bodystyles, adding a hybrid powertrain option after a decade of absence in the North American lineup.

The 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid produces a combined 200 hp (149 kW / 203 PS) and 232 lb-ft (315 Nm) of torque, from two electric motors and a 2.0-liter gasoline engine. This is more powerful than the European e:HEV and makes it the most potent version of the Civic currently available, excluding the Type R.

Honda has yet to reveal detailed specifications, but claims that the hybrid variant surpasses the outgoing turbo 1.5-liter model in acceleration. Simultaneously, the new Civic Hybrid boasts significantly enhanced efficiency, with a promise of nearly 50 mpg. Moreover, Honda engineers have meticulously optimized the hybrid’s suspension, implementing unique tuning for both springs and dampers.

The electrified Sport Hybrid and Sport Touring Hybrid trims are joined by the ICE-only LX and Sport, models. These are powered by the carry-over naturally-aspirated 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 158 hp (118 kW / 160 PS) and 138 lb-ft (187 Nm) of torque. Overall, Honda expects the hybrid to account for nearly 40 percent of the Civic sales.

The 2025 Civic lineup is equipped with a CVT, but sadly, there’s currently no mention of the manual Civic Si in the press release. Seeking clarification on the possibility of a manual transmission option, we contacted Honda and received the following response: “No information is currently available regarding the 2025 model year Civic lineup.”

Sportier Stance

While instantly recognizable, the Civic adopts a sportier face, three years after the debut of the 11th generation. The redesigned grille and bumper intakes mirror those of the Civic RS prototype from the 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon.

The hybrid trims are distinguished by the body-colored garnish around the headlights and on the front splitter. Other visual updates include the dark-tinted taillights on the sedan, the machine-finished 18-inch wheels on the Sport Touring Hybrid, and four new available shades for the exterior.

The interior is largely carried over with minor changes. These include a gray option exclusive to the hybrid, and the addition of USB-C ports across the lineup. More importantly, there is a larger 9-inch infotainment display in the flagship Sport Touring Hybrid trim which benefits from Google built-in and is compatible with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The 2025 Honda Civic will arrive in US dealerships this June starting with the sedan, while the hatchback will follow later in the summer. Pricing will be announced at a later date, with the new 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid expected to start under $30,000.
