• Audi introduces a new, more affordable Q6 e-tron variant with rear-wheel drive.
  • The electric crossover has 322 hp and the longest range in the lineup at 398 miles.
  • German pricing starts at €68,800 ($74,400), or €5,900 less than the AWD model.

The Audi Q6 e-tron lineup is expanding as the company has introduced a new performance variant. Set to be launched in August, the model promises to go the distance, thanks to a WLTP range of up to 398 miles (641 km).

That’s the most range of any Q6 e-tron to date and Audi said this was made possible thanks to the use of rear-wheel drive as well as a newly developed lithium-ion battery that has a gross capacity of 100 kWh. The Performance trim also has a rear-mounted motor producing 322 hp (240 kW / 326 PS), which is 60 hp (45 kW / 61 PS) less than the all-wheel drive variant.

While the Q6 e-tron performance is down on power, it can accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in a respectable 6.6 seconds. Given enough time, the crossover will eventually hit a limited top speed of 130 mph (210 km/h).

It also offers a 260 kW DC fast charging capability, which enables it to get 162 miles (260 km) of range in as little as 10 minutes. At home, a 230V AC outlet can fully recharge the battery in approximately 10.25 hours.

In terms of equipment, the 4,850 lbs (2,200 kg) crossover rides on 18-inch wheels and features contrasting Mythos Black accents. Buyers will also find LED lighting units, fabric seats, and volcano grey trim.

The Q6 e-tron performance is currently available to order and German pricing starts at €68,800. That significantly undercuts the quattro all-wheel drive variant, which begins at €74,700.
