All Bugattis are special, but some go the extra mile. That’s certainly the case with this Chiron Super Sport, which pays tribute to the Type 55 Super Sport.
Known as the “55 1 of 1” commission, the car honors the original Super Sport and features a two-tone paint scheme that was first introduced on the Type 55 by Jean Bugatti. The company went on to note it wears a black and yellow combination, which was favored by Ettore Bugatti.
The retro-inspired cues don’t end there as the model sports a black centerline reminiscent of the Type 55. The car also has a hand-applied, fading ‘55’ pattern that flows front the fenders to the headlights.

The latter is an interesting touch and Jascha Straub, Manager of Sur Mesure (Custom Made) and Individualization at Bugatti, said “From a distance, the ‘55’ pattern ensures that the fender appears to be black like on the original car.” He went on to explain, “On the original historic car, where you have some parts that end at a certain point, you can just paint until the shut line. But with the Chiron Super Sport, it had to fade into zero. It was a long and intricate process, but it was the right approach.”
Rounding out the exterior highlights are a black grille surround and black ten-spoke wheels with yellow “EB” emblems. The model also sports a two-tone rear wing with “55 1 of 1” written on the underside.
The two-tone theme continues in the cabin, which features a mix of leather and Alcantara upholstery. However, the most eye-catching detail is a fading ‘55’ motif that starts on the doors and continues into the dashboard. Elsewhere, there’s carbon fiber trim, embroidered headrests, and special sill plates with Jean Bugatti’s signature.
Power is provided by a quad turbocharged 8.0-liter W16 engine developing 1,578 hp (1,177 kW / 1,600 PS) and 1,180 lb-ft (1,600 Nm) of torque. It’s connected to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and an all-wheel drive system, which enables the model to hit a top speed of 273 mph (440 km/h).
