Cadillac’s return to Le Mans was more than two decades in the making and it has been transformed into a 90-minute documentary called No Perfect Formula. Produced by Tangent Vector and directed by J.F. Musial, the film takes viewers behind the scenes as Cadillac prepares for and eventually competes in the iconic race.

The documentary will be released later this month, but a teaser was dropped today and the company said it follows their effort to “design, develop, engineer, test and race a winning race car.” They’re talking about the V-Series.R, which features a naturally aspirated 5.5-liter V8 in the middle of a hybrid system with a 1.35 kWh battery pack and a 67 hp (50 kW / 68 PS) electric motor. This enables the car to produce a series-limited output of up to 670 hp (500 kW / 679 PS).

No Perfect Formula will debut on May 31 at 7 p.m. EST. It can be seen online or on the Hagerty channel, which can be found on the Samsung TV Plus app as well as smart TVs. Following its premiere, the documentary will air in the same time slot on Friday nights leading up to the 24 Hours of Le Mans in mid-June.

Speaking of which, Cadillac had a podium finish as the car driven by Earl Bamber, Alex Lynn, and Richard Westbrook came in third. The brand’s other cars finished fourth and 17th.
