Gulf Oil-Themed McLaren P1 And 720S Look Very Dapper

RM Sotheby’s will auction off a pair of Gulf Oil-themed McLarens this weekend, and while the looks may divide opinion, the cars stand out.

First up is a 2015 McLaren P1 offered as part of the Dare to Dream Collection. It is chassis #108 of the 375 road-going P1s built and has more than $100,000 in options from McLaren Special Operations. Most of the bodywork is clad in a gorgeous shade of light blue contrasted by a bright orange center stripe and accents across the front splitter, side skirts, rear diffuser, and rear wing.

The original owner also specified the P1 with matching orange brake calipers. Gulf Oil touches continue into the cabin with a two-tone 12 o’clock marker on the steering wheel, a blue DRS button, and an orange IPAS button. The two active switches in the center console are also finished in blue and orange. While the car is currently located in Canada, it is a U.S.-spec model and has been driven just 1,913 miles (3,078 km). The auction house expects it to sell for between $1.75 million and $2.25 million.

Then we have the second McLaren with a Gulf Oil theme. It too is part of the Dare to Dream Collection and is a 2018 720S with 1,243 miles (1,999 km) on the clock. It’s painted in a combination of Iridium Blue with a Mayan Spark stripe, and like the P1, it includes orange accents on the front splitter, side skirts, and rear fascia. Additionally, it rocks matching orange brake calipers.

A look inside the cabin reveals an orange and blue marker on the steering wheel and contrasting Sky Blue stitching. It’s tipped to sell for between $350,000 and $400,000.
