• While this Ram has twice the horsepower of the Ford GT, it also weighs twice as much.
  • Hennessey launched its Mammoth 1200 to send off the TRX in style.
  • The Ram is four-wheel drive while the Ford sends its 647 horses through the rear wheels.

Not long after Hennessey showed its special Ram 1500 TRX Mammoth 1200 racing a Chevrolet Corvette Z06, the tuner has joined forces with automotive content creator Shmee150 to race its ultimate TRX against his Ford GT.

On paper, the Ram 1500 TRX has the advantage. Its 6.2-liter supercharged V8 has been overhauled by Hennessey and now includes a new supercharger, new pulleys, upgraded spark plugs, and an ECU tune, allowing it to churn out 1,200 hp. Coupled with this insane engine is an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission sending power through all four wheels.

While the Ram has an extraordinary amount of power, it is also extremely heavy, tipping the scales at around 6,440 lbs or 2,921 kg.

In comparison, the Ford GT is driven by a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 with 647 hp. While that’s roughly half of what the Ram has, the Ford only weighs 3,354 lbs (1,521 kg), meaning it’s around half the weight of the pickup, so the pair have very similar power-to-weight ratios.

In the first race between the pair, and with launch control enabled in the GT, it is the TRX that lurches off the line first, immediately establishing a massive lead thanks in part to its all-wheel drive system. The Ford started to close the gap as the speeds increased but it wasn’t able to keep up with the TRX.

The second race was more competitive as Shmee got a better launch in the GT and was able to race past just before the line. For the third, the pair lined up for a roll and this played into the hands of the Ford with it taking a comfortable victory. The fourth and final race was once again from a standing start but if you want to see the result of it, you’ll have to check out the full video.
