• Bentley’s swan song for the ICE-only 4.0-liter, twin-turbocharged V8
  • Special edition features distinctive luxury details
  • The Bentley Continental GT/C and Flying Spur will soon get a plug-in hybrid V8 that makes 740 hp to replace the W12

Bentley is electrifying its entire lineup, meaning there will soon be no room left for the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 in its stable. Order books for V8 Continental GT/GTCs and Flying Spurs have already been closed in the UK, Europe, and the Middle East, but North Americans are being offered one last chance to get the engine with a special new model: the Edition 8.

Naturally, the special edition will be centered around the 4.0-liter, twin-turbocharged V8, which makes a still impressive 542 hp (404 kW / 550 PS), but what will make them truly special is the amount of luxury features they come with.

All Edition 8 models will be offered in the Blackline specification, a highly polished “jewel” filler cap, and a choice of five- or 10-spoke 22-inch wheels with self-leveling badges. Buyers will also be offered a choice between more than 60 exterior paint colors.

Inside, the special Bentley models come with a rotating display and Comfort Specification seats with contrast stitching, and Palm Fluting, which Bentley has never offered on a mainstream production model before. Finally, the cars will also be equipped with Edition 8 badges throughout.

V8 Bentley Continental And Flying Spur Bow Out With Special “Edition 8” In North America

First deliveries of the special edition model will start soon, but Bentley has not indicated how many Editions 8 it will sell. Prices for the highly appointed model have not been shared either, but the V8 Continental GT starts at $245,435, the GTC at $270,150, and the Flying Spur at $218,050 in the U.S. market.

Although this marks the departure of the pure combustion V8 from Continental GT/GTC and the Flying Spur (it will stick around a little longer in the Bentayga), Bentley will stick to them as it recently unveiled its plug-in hybrid V8 powertrain as a replacement for the W12, which will deliver 740 hp (551 kW / 750 PS), and up to 50 miles (80 km) of electric-only range.
