Seems like car theft headlines are a dime a dozen these days. We’re practically getting numb to stories of brazen break-ins at dealerships, with high-end models vanishing faster than a paycheck on payday. But there’s a new wrinkle in this trend: thieves are increasingly using the very tools of their trade – modern muscle cars, including Dodge Challengers and Chevy Camaros, to facilitate their devious activities.
Take this past Sunday in Maryland, for instance. Thieves with a taste for high-performance (and apparently questionable morals) used a Chevrolet Camaro to bust into a dealership lot. Their ill-gotten gains? Two brand new C8 Corvettes, leaving the dealership with a double dose of “gone in 60 seconds” reality.

According to police report, suspects broke into the lot of a Sport Chevrolet dealership located on the 3100 block of Automobile Blvd in Silver Spring, Maryland, at approximately 12:10 am on Sunday.
The thieves used a stolen Chevrolet Camaro to crash through the gates of the dealership,with the intent of abandoning the muscle car on-site. Their target was a pair of brand-new Chevrolet Corvettes parked in the secured lot area. . When the authorities arrived, both sports cars had vanished. However, police allegedly traced one of them, initiating a pursuit.
As reported by DMV News Live on X, officers from the Montgomery County Police Department disengaged when the stolen Corvette passed through Prince George’s County Boundary. While this hasn’t been officially confirmed, it could be related to their policy regarding areas of jurisdiction.

ABC 7 News spoke to the Montgomery County Police Department, which currently has no suspects in custody, describing the investigation as active and ongoing.
