• One of just nine BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition models built
  • The livery is a tribute to the 2022 DTM championship won by BMW driver Sheldon van der Linde
  • A smattering of carbon fiber pieces can be found throughout the car

A rare BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition built to celebrate Schubert Motorsport claiming the 2022 DTM title is up for sale in Germany for €169,900 (~$183,200).

In 2022, South African driver Sheldon van der Linde won the DTM driver’s championship behind the wheel of an M4 with a red, yellow, black, and white livery. These colors reflect Shell, which sponsored the team but the red-and-yellow theme is probably too close to McDonald’s for our liking. Schubert Motorsport commissioned nine road-going M4s to be built with the same color scheme and the third of these nine cars is available.

This rare, limited-edition model probably isn’t to everyone’s taste but you cannot deny that it’s special. Most of the bodywork is painted in red but the front end’s passenger side has a spot finished in yellow, just like van der Linde’s racing car.  Black graphics are also found on the hood.

Spin around to the side and you will find white accents on the front fenders with the racing number ‘31’, which is the racing number of van der Linde. The rear quarter of the driver’s side is painted yellow, the rocker panels are black, and there are additional black accents on the rear bumper. The rear lip spoiler is painted in yellow and black. As a highly-specced BMW M4, there’s plenty of carbon fiber too, including the front lip and the rear diffuser.

Other custom touches made to the interior include bright red accents, including on the seats, unique scuff plates with the Schubert Motorsport logo and van der Linde’s signature, and the headrests have been stitched with the South African’s racing number reading ‘DTM Champion Edition.’ A small plaque sits on the center console with an outline of the Hockenheimring.

Based on the M4 Competition, the DTM Champion Edition is powered by a 503-hp twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6 engine, sending power to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission.
