• This FPV ute was recently sold on Facebook Marketplace.

  • The pickup has been driven a touch over 115,000 km (~71,000 miles since new).

Ten years ago, seeing punchy utes from Ford on Australian roads was quite a common sight, but with Holden and Ford no longer building cars locally, these fabulous creations are becoming few and far between. They are even rarer in the United States, which makes this example all the more intriguing.

The following Ford ute, a 2012 FPV Boss 315 GS, was one of the finest built by Ford Performance Vehicles and has somehow made its way to the United States. It was listed up for sale through Facebook Marketplace in Nashville, Tennessee, and is reportedly the only FPV of its kind in the United States.

The listing reveals the car has been driven around 115,000 km or ~71,000 miles since it was new. The exterior looks to be in good condition, and no visible dents can be seen on the panels in these photos. However, some scratches do catch the eye on the front bumper, and it appears some duct tape has been used to cover a crack in the bumper, too.

The highlight of the Boss 315 GS is the engine. To create this beast, Ford Performance Vehicles took the Blue Oval’s 5.0-liter V8 and installed an in-house supercharger, allowing it to extract 456 hp and 421 lb-ft (571 Nm) of torque.

Mated to this potent engine is a six-speed Tremec manual transmission, although FPV also sold it with a six-speed ZF auto. Thankfully, this car has the former. When it was new, the ute could hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in an impressive 5.2 seconds. It also rocks a set of potent Brembo brakes.

We think the car’s exterior has aged quite gracefully over the last 12 years, but the interior feels very outdated. There’s a chunky steering wheel, analog gauges, and an infotainment screen sitting at the top of the dashboard. The stick shift shows signs of wear, but that’s hardly a surprise as we’re sure rowing through the gears is an absolute treat.

The seller listed the vehicle for $65,000. Interestingly, the seller, Kelly Metzmaker, is the same guy who has owned and imported a bunch of other high-performance cars from Australia to Tennessee, including numerous HSVs.
