It’s only been a few months since the first 2024 Toyota Land Cruisers were handed over to U.S. customers, but sadly, one has already been totaled. Photos from the first known accident involving the brand-new Land Cruiser have surfaced online, displaying the vehicle in a rather sorry state.

The crash seems to have taken place on U.S. soil, though the exact location remains uncertain. Additionally, the two photos uploaded to Reddit and X are squarely focused on the SUV, obscuring any view of other vehicle(s) that might have been involved in the wreck.

Based on the alloy wheels and roof rack, the 2024 Land Cruiser in the photos is likely the First Edition trim with a black exterior. The upper front end has been torn off, exposing the engine internals. The headlight, hood, fender, and door skin are missing, and the windshield is shattered.

While there is no information regarding injuries, the condition of the cabin offers some optimism about the safety of the driver and any potential occupants. Nonetheless, we sincerely hope they emerged unharmed, despite the undoubtedly shocking experience.

Based on the aftermath, a Reddit user speculated that the SUV may have sideswiped a semi truck, which could explain the damage focused on the upper body area. Interestingly, the bumper appears largely intact, indicating that this likely wasn’t a typical front-end collision with another car.

In addition to several body panels being cracked or missing, the Land Cruiser also sustained significant damage to the powertrain and a bent A-pillar. Given these extensive damages and the high cost of repairs, it’s reasonable to assume that the vehicle will be deemed totaled, as repairing it would not be financially viable.

Review: 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser Is The 4-Runner For Grown Ups

The base MSRP for a 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser First Edition is $74,950. Hopefully, the owner dodged those massive dealer markups, which hit as high as $30,000 over MSRP when they first came out. With a bit of luck, their insurance will handle the damages, though finding another Land Cruiser might be a bit of a challenge.
