The current Toyota GR Supra has its critics. Many claim that because it was developed with BMW, it’s not a true Toyota, nor a true Supra. However, much like the Mk4 Supra it replaced, the current model has become popular across the tuning scene, meaning owners have plenty of ways to upgrade and modify their cars while eliminating some of the ‘BMW-ness’.

On the engine front, AC Schnitzer offers a tune for both the 3.0-liter and 2.0-liter models. The 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder model is boosted from the original 340 hp and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of early models to 400 hp and 442 lb-ft (600 Nm). Similarly, the 2.0-liter turbocharger four-cylinder’s output is increased from 258 hp and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) to 300 hp and 347 lb-ft (470 Nm). Supra owners who want to make their sports car sound a little nicer can also order a stainless steel exhaust with carbon tailpipes.
Perhaps the most significant upgrade offered by the tuner is a new adjustable suspension setup with active dampers that offer manual adjustment for compression and rebound. These new coilovers promise to transform how the car handles. Should owners not want to fit coilovers, AC Schnitzer also sells lowering springs.
Several 20-inch and 21-inch wheels are available for the sports car, as are a handful of aero tweaks. The most significant aero upgrade is a carbon fiber rear wing that gives the Supra that real ‘tuner’ feel. A carbon fiber front splitter is also on offer for the car, as is a carbon fiber gurney flap that can be added to the wing.
The car’s interior has some minor alterations, with AC Schnitzer designing and developing new aluminum pedals, a new controller for the infotainment display, and a key holder that sits in one of the cup holders.
