- BMW M is preparing to unveil a mysterious new vehicle on August 15.
- The unnamed model promises to be “very special” and “powerful.”
- This announcement follows last month’s unveiling of the Skytop concept.
Monterey Car Week is less than two months away and BMW is getting a jumpstart on the festivities. As part of the effort, BMW M has announced plans to stage a mysterious world premier on August 15 in Pebble Beach, California.
The company isn’t saying much at this point, but hinted at a “powerful next chapter in the story of M.” The automaker went on to describe it as a “very special surprise you will not want to miss.”

While many will likely assume the company is talking about the next-generation of the M5, which was recently teased, that seems unlikely as the car is expected to be unveiled later this month. Also, given the lengthy teaser campaign for the M5 and M5 Touring, they’re not exactly a “very special surprise.”
As a result, the world premier remains a mystery. However, we know BMW M is working on an assortment of different vehicles including an M2 CS and an M3 CS Touring. BMW has also been testing a quad motor i4 prototype, which would likely serve as an excellent basis for an i4 M.
The BMW Skytop Concept
Of course, it’s Pebble Beach and that means we could also be looking at a high profile concept. This is a strong possibility and BMW recently used the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este to unveil the Skytop concept, which sought to recapture some of the glamour and elegance of the Z8.
While only time will tell what BMW M has planned, let us know your guesses in the comments below.
