- These renderings are based on spy shots of the Outlander from 2019.
- Mitsubishi has shown no interest in reviving the beloved, rally-bred Lancer Evolution.
- Like Evos of yesteryear, the performance sedan depicted has a sleek design and a towering rear wing.
We’re big fans of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution here at Carscoops and always have been, so the marque’s decision to axe the model in 2016 felt like a punch to the gut. However, plenty of people are holding out hope the Evo will be revived, and this week, a set of intriguing spy shots landed in our inbox, appearing to show an Evo 11. There’s only one problem: the photos are fake.
There is no shortage of speculative renderings of future Mitsubishi Lancer Evo XI models, but these creations are a little different. Rather than attempting to showcase how the sports sedan could look in production guise, they portray it as a realistic prototype bathed in camouflage. The unknown mastemind behind them has done a good job of making them look authentic, and we suspect some may even had been be fooled by them.

How do we know they’re fake? These images are based on spy photos of the Mitsubishi Outlander we shared in late 2019. The Outlander has been removed from these images and replaced with a low-slung sports sedan. There are some other telling details hinting at the use of AI such as the tires.
The car does look very cool, we must admit. It’s been imagined with an upright front grille and sharp taillights. The Lancer Evo also has circular LED daytime running lights positioned lower on the fascia and adopts a Subaru WRX STI-inspired hood scoop. Elsewhere, you’ll notice a set of sporty black wheels covering a set of large brakes and silver brake calipers.
Compared to the 10th generation Lancer Evo, this new one appears to sit lower and looks even sportier. A large wing, a beefy bumper, and twin tailpipes are found at the rear. Earlier this year, talented designer Hycade created a series of renderings depicting his own Evo 11. Those were based heavily on the Evo X, but also looked superb.
Unfortunately, it’s highly unlikely Mitsubishi will revive the Lancer Evolution. Sales of sedans are falling and the car manufacturer is much more interested in electrifying its lineup of crossovers and SUVs.
