Following a preview earlier this year, Ford has revealed powertrain details and the livery for the F-150 Lightning SuperTruck. It will compete at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb on June 23.
With the race less than a week away, the automaker announced the model has a tri-motor powertrain that echoes the one in last year’s SuperVan 4.2. The STARD UHP six-phase motors produce more than 1,400 hp (1,044 kW / 1,419 PS) and are powered by “Ultra-High Performance Li-Polymer NMC cells.”

Besides the electric powertrain, the truck sports an insane body that doesn’t even resemble the road-going model. It’s focused on aerodynamics and Ford said the truck has a triple-element front wing, hood ducts, headlight ducts, front dive-planes, and side diffusers. They’re joined by a massive wing, streamlined bodywork, and a gigantic rear diffuser. These components enable the truck to generate 6,000 lbs (2,722 kg) of downforce at 150 mph (241 km/h).
Other highlights include carbon ceramic brakes and forged magnesium wheels wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero tires. The model also has a “fully custom in-board suspension system” as well as a carbon-clad cockpit with a single seat and an assortment of displays.
The SuperTruck will be driven up the roughly 12.5 mile (20.1 km) long course by Pikes Peak veteran Romain Dumas. He remarked, “After a successful 2023 climb, I’m thrilled to be behind the wheel again with this team and to help push the limits of what an electric vehicle can achieve on the turns of this legendary course. In testing, the F-150 Lightning SuperTruck has surpassed my expectations, so we are hoping for some good weather to try and do something very special.”
