Police say that a thief in Boston used a screwdriver to start a classic 1987 Buick Grand National before driving off. During the joyride with the car, they crashed into 15-20 other vehicles. Now, authorities are still searching for the person as the owner tries to pick up the pieces.
The crime happened on Monday afternoon around 3 pm in the Dorchester area of Boston. Cameras only caught brief glimpses of the gloss black sports car as it flew down city streets but the path of destruction told the story. Authorities say the suspect hit several vehicles and left the Buick in pieces.

The owner says they just got the car back after a year of restoration that included a new engine. “He literally just wrecked my life by joyriding the car for no reason. It just makes me sick,” Dennis Harrington, the owner, told WBZ. “I was sick to my stomach because there’s no way I’m ever going to replace that. Insurance is never going to cover it. I’m sick to my stomach.” He reportedly spent approximately $150,000 on the car since buying it.
He’s not the only one reeling after the damage though. The owner of a red Lexus sedan also spoke out after his car was hit by the Buick driver. “I was working today and then my mother called and said that my car had gotten hit. I was shocked,” Luan Dai said. “I just feel sad for everybody in the situation. I hope he gets caught soon.”
The Buick itself finished the day on a flatbed. The front suffered serious damage to the hood, fenders, and front bumper. These rare cars routinely cross auction blocks for in excess of $100,000. Hopefully, Harrington’s example can be mended and put back on the road sooner than later. He had hoped to one day pass it down to his son.
