- A trio of Corvette prototypes was spotted sitting next to a Ferrari SF90 Stradale.
- The presence of the 986-hp Ferrari indicates that these prototypes could be the long-rumored Zora
- Previous reports suggested a 2025 reveal of the Corvette Zora.
Car companies across the world benchmark their upcoming models against the competition all of the time. In fact, it’s that benchmarking that allows them to make such competitive products. What does it say though when General Motors is benchmarking a group of Corvette prototypes against a Ferrari SF90 Stradale? That the product in question could very well be the rumored 1,000-horsepower Zora.
The group of Corvettes in question popped up in Vermillion, Ohio, about an hour from GM’s propulsion facility in Toledo. A keen-eyed Corvette fan snapped the photos below and posted them to the C8 Corvette Owners (And Friends) page on Facebook. Initially, they believed that the test cars were of the ZR-1 variety but that doesn’t add up.

Sure, the ZR-1 isn’t out just yet but the presence of an SF90 points more toward the long-rumored Zora trim. Consider several factors. First, the Ferrari is a plug-in hybrid supercar that makes 986 hp (735 kW) and sends that power to all four wheels. Rumors suggest that the ZR-1 will use two turbochargers and rear-wheel drive but will leave out any form of electrification. In addition, the ZR-1 is slated for its public debut “this summer.”
It’s certainly plausible that Chevrolet could feel the need to continue fine-tuning some aspects of the design but benchmarking it against the SF90 doesn’t appear to be an apples-to-apples test. The rumored Zora trim, named for the man dubbed the ‘father of the Corvette‘, supposedly will use twin turbocharging along with electric motors on the front axle. That sure sounds exactly like the SF90 in more ways than one.

Back in 2020, a road map for the C8 Corvette was allegedly leaked and much of it has already come to pass. The Z06 came out in 2022, the E-Ray (thought to be called the Grand Sport in the road map) arrived in 2023, and the ZR-1 is, as mentioned, debuting later this year.
The only car left on the map that hasn’t seen the light of day is the Zora. Well, maybe it has seen the light of day and it’s sitting right in front of us right here.
