• The new supercar will be driven by a bespoke 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8.
  • Like the Revuelto, the Temerario will also feature three electric motors.
  • Lamborghini will unveil its all-new model in August.

The successor to the Lamborghini Huracan will pump out more than 887 hp, giving it a significant power advantage over the Ferrari 296 GTB that it will rival.

Last month, Lamborghini confirmed its new, ‘entry-level’ mid-engined supercar would feature a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 that revs to 10,000 rpm. This engine will replace the 5.2-liter naturally-aspirated V10 from the Huracan and pump out 789 hp. The brand’s boss, Stephan Winkelmann, has now revealed on LinkedIn this engine will be supplemented by three electric motors and all up, deliver more than 887 hp.

Few details have been provided about the car’s hybrid setup. Reports from last month had claimed the new car, tipped to be dubbed the Temerario, would feature just a single electric motor at the rear axle, but those reports have proven to be false. The larger Lamborghini Revuelto also uses three motors, and the Huracan successor should have the same setup, meaning two of those motors will drive the front wheels.

The Revuelto churns out 1,001 hp through its 6.5-liter naturally-aspirated V12 and trio of electric motors. While Winkelmann didn’t specify an exact horsepower number for the Temerario, other than saying it’ll have more than 887 hp or 900 PS, it certainly won’t have a four-digit horsepower figure like its bigger brother. At 887 hp, the new car will easily outmuscle the 296 GTB with its 819 hp, and unlike the Ferrari, which is rear-wheel drive, the Temerario will be all-wheel drive, making its power easier to put to the ground.

Visually, the Temerario will be easily identifiable as a Lamborghini and adopt styling elements borrowed from the Revuelto. The front end will include slim headlights and hexagonal daytime running lights, while at the rear, a large central tailpipe and a pronounced diffuser will be found.

We expect to learn more about the supercar in the coming weeks since Lamborghini will unveil the Huracan’s successor in August.
