- Taking cues from a previous teaser, digital artist crafts a vision for the next generation of the Lexus ES sedan.
- Recent patent filings indicate that the lineup will include fully electric and hybrid powertrain options.
- Similarly to the related Camry, the new ES will likely be a heavily revised version of its predecessor rather than a clean-sheet design.
Lexus is currently developing a new iteration of the ES sedan, which is anticipated to feature a revamped exterior along with the introduction of EV powertrain options. Drawing inspiration from an official teaser released a few years back, independent digital artist Nikita Chuicko crafted renderings of the forthcoming Lexus ES, providing insights into its visual transformation.
Despite the lack of spy shots for the upcoming Lexus ES, a December 2021 Lexus group teaser showcased a similar-sized sedan with a strikingly close profile. Taking inspiration from this teaser, Kolesa commissioned digital illustrations by Chuicko that provide a potentially accurate preview, especially for the front fascia design.

The near-premium midsize sedan is portrayed with a sleeker front fascia compared to the current ES, owing to the absence of the spindle grille. Instead, a slimmer horizontal grille connects the new headlights, which boast a simplified shape and updated LED graphics. The bumper is more contoured, featuring triangular intakes accentuated by thin chrome bezels.
The speculative rear rendering proposes full-width LED taillights, a more pronounced spoiler, and a revised bumper.
Finally, the teaser indicates that the future Lexus ES will retain the current model’s side profile and greenhouse, hinting at a substantial facelift rather than a full redesign. This mirrors the approach taken by its Toyota counterpart, the Camry, which underwent a similar refresh for its ninth generation.
Lexus’ recent production models and concept cars have showcased the brand’s gradual evolution towards a cleaner design language. Accordingly, the styling of the next-gen Lexus ES is expected to adopt a more streamlined and universally appealing approach that caters to traditional sedan buyers with understated elegance.
Like its closely-related counterpart, the Toyota Camry, which was redesigned for the 2025MY, the new Lexus ES will likely retain the existing TNGA-K platform. However, recent patent filings hint at a significant overhaul of the powertrain lineup.
The ES350e and ES500e variants are anticipated to feature fully electric powertrains, marking a first for the nameplate. Additionally, the ES350h could receive a new self-charging hybrid setup with AWD capability.
Lexus has yet to announce a specific debut date for the new ES lineup. Considering the sixth-generation Lexus ES debuted in 2018 and underwent a facelift in 2021, it’s conceivable that the company might unveil the new iteration by early 2025, either as a 2025MY or 2026MY.
