• Tuner Manhart Performance has developed a kit for the BMW X3 M Competition that makes 650HP.
  • It also offers a carbon fiber body kit for the small SUV.
  • Finally, a set of wheels and lowering springs finish off the highly custom BMW.

The BMW X3 M Competition is a very fast little SUV. It makes 510 horsepower (380 kW) and 479 lb-ft (650 Nm) of torque out of the box. That was, in Manhart’s own words, “a worthy basis” for what it wanted to build. The result is a highly-tuned X3 M Competition with more power, more torque, and a boatload of custom parts.

Manhart’s main contribution to its own version of the X3 M Comp comes in the form of tuning. It doesn’t change any hard parts out of the engine, but with clever fuel and boost mapping it manages 650 horsepower and 589 lb-ft of torque. It supports that additional horsepower with a stainless steel exhaust system, Manhart downpipes, and HJS catalytic converters.

A quartet of 100-millimeter carbon-coated tailpipes is the only exterior visual reference that the exhaust isn’t stock. Of course, the rest of the carbon fiber body kit might be a giveaway that this car isn’t exactly straight out of the factory.

Manhart includes a front spoiler and side skirts with side fins. At the rear, buyers will find a roof spoiler and a diffuser. For this show car, Manhart used silver and blue accents for these exterior parts.

It also fitted staggered 22-inch wheels to the car. The tuner says that it’s happy to customize wheel choice and fitment to each buyer though. While the brakes on this M Comp car are factory-issued, buyers could even request other braking packages should they wish to. The stance seen here is in part due to lowering springs from H&R that drop the car by roughly three centimeters.

The interior continues the highly custom theme. It gets its own unique genuine carbon fiber trim. That includes the steering wheel spokes and the paddle shifters. Manhart will even include customized upholstery upon request.

All of that sounds fine and dandy but I’ll take the engine mods with nothing more. Talk about one heck of an X3 sleeper.
