- The second generation of the Nissan Qashqai gains another facelift for the Chinese market.
- The SUV adopts a completely redesigned face and new technology inside the cabin.
- It will continue to be made in China by Dongfeng-Nissan, alongside the newer third-gen Qashqai.
Nissan recently unveiled the facelifted version of the third-generation Qashqai in Europe, but the second generation continues to be offered in China as the Qashqai Classic. This ageing compact SUV, previously sold in the USA as the Rogue Sport until Nissan discontinued it in 2022 (though it’s still available in Canada as the 2023MY Qashqai), is set to receive its own facelift in the Chinese market, effectively extending its lifecycle.
The Qashqai Classic is manufactured in China by Dongfeng Motors, as part of its joint venture with Nissan. Photos and specs of an updated version recently surfaced on China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, ahead of an anticipated debut later in 2024.

The facelifted model features a completely redesigned front end, adopting Nissan’s latest styling language, similar to the new Rogue and the electric Ariya. The new LED headlights, seamlessly integrated into the V-motion grille that dominates the front bumper, give the SUV a strikingly different appearance from this angle.
However, the hood, profile, greenhouse, and rear end are largely carried over from the old Qashqai / Rogue Sport. The only exceptions are the new alloy wheels, the redesigned LED graphics on the tinted taillights boasting a cleaner look, and the Glory emblem on the tailgate.

According to the official docs, the Nissan Qashqai Classic Glory Edition measures 4,401-4,407 mm (173.3-173.5 inches) long, matching its predecessor. While interior photos have yet to surface, indications suggest the dashboard has received minor updates incorporating new technology.
The refreshed SUV is expected to retain its 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, delivering 138 hp (103 kW / 140 PS) and 200 Nm (148 lb-ft) of torque. Power will be exclusively transmitted to the front wheels through the Xtronic CVT.
The second-generation Nissan Qashqai was initially introduced in 2013 and received a mild facelift in 2016. It was also marketed in the US as the Rogue Sport until it was discontinued in 2022.
In China, the Nissan Qashqai Classic is available alongside the third-generation Qashqai, which has not yet received the European facelift.
