- The car was originally painted in Le Mans Blue, but the exterior needs some TLC.
- Despite the Camaro’s age, the interior looks to be in good condition.
- Mecum claims the car still has its original 302 cubic-inch V8.
Before the tragic passing of Paul Walker and Roger Rodas in a Porsche Carrera GT in late 2013, the two friends owned several cars together and had several projects in the works. This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro RS Z/28 is one of the final project cars they purchased and will be auctioned off by Mecum in August.
Unfortunately, Walker and Rodas were unable to finish the car before their deaths, but someone now has the opportunity to restore and perhaps modify the Camaro. The car was originally purchased new from Martens Chevrolet of Reedly, California, and later sold to Chevy collector Merle Duprey in 1982 before Walker and Rodas bought it. The listing reveals it was sold back to Durpey as part of Walker’s estate in 2013 and is now sold by Solo Speed Shop.

The classic muscle car needs a lot of work to return to its former glory. It left the factory painted in Le Mans Blue, but most of the paint has worn off. Remarkably, it sits on the original Z/28 Rally wheels with BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires and continues to rock front and rear bumper guards. The exterior needs some TLC, but for the most part, the panels appear free of damage, and with a fresh coat of paint, the car should look brilliant.
As tired and worn as the exterior is, the interior isn’t in bad shape, considering its age. The material on the bucket seats looks to be in good condition, as have the black plastics found throughout and the wooden trim on the center console.
Collectors will be pleased to know the car retains its original, numbers-matching 302 cubic-inch V8 and four-speed manual transmission driving the rear wheels. The winning bidder may choose to restore the powertrain to its former glory or modify it. Either way, this unfinished Camaro Z/28 could be the perfect project car.
