- The new model could share components with the E-Scudo sold in Europe.
- There’s also an outside chance the new electric van to be based on the Fiat Doblo.
- Ram wants to square off against Ford in the commercial vehicle space.
Ram is working on a new compact electric commercial van for the U.S. market. This new model may serve as a spiritual successor to the Ram ProMaster City and could be based on the Fiat Scudo and E-Scudo vans sold in Europe.
The original ProMaster City was built between 2015 and 2022. Chrysler and Ram chief executive Chris Feuell confirmed a new electric commercial van is on the cards during the brand’s recent Investor Day, and while he didn’t label it as a replacement to the ProMaster City, it will certainly fill the void left behind by that model.

Mopar Insiders believes the Fiat Scudo and E-Scudo could serve as a base for the new model. In Europe, Fiat Professional sells the E-Scudo with a 50 kWh battery and a 75 kWh battery and the van offers up to 205 miles (330 km) of range on the WLTP cycle. Additionally, the E-Scudo supports 100 kW DC fast charging, meaning the battery can be charged to 80% capacity in 45 minutes.
While speaking during the Investor Day event, Stellantis chief executive Carlos Tavares indicated the firm wants to go after Ford, which has a “40% market share in the pro segment in the U.S.”
If the report about a U.S.-bound electric commercial van based on the E-Scudo is accurate, production could start towards the end of next year at the firm’s plant in Turkey. Autoblog has suggested the replacement of the Ram ProMaster City could be based on the Fiat Doblo sold in Europe. If that’s the case, then it’ll be quite a bit smaller than the E-Scudo.
Whatever the case, Feuell confirmed recent changes on the firm’s commercial side “will drive Ram’s record sales in 2025″. Both commercial and passenger versions of the van are believed to be in the works.
