• This stunning Cobra recreation rocks a 427 cubic-inch Roush V8 with an aluminum block.
  • Superformance has also installed massive brakes and adjustable coilovers.
  • The cabin is bathed in beautiful red leather.

If you want to buy an original Shelby Cobra from the 1960s, you’ll have to write a check with a lot of zeros. However, a compelling recreation from a respected firm like Superformance might be the next best option for enthusiasts without a budget that stretches quite that far.

This incredibly detailed recreation, dubbed the MKIII, is underpinned by a steel frame and features lightweight fiberglass panels that perfectly mimic those of an original Cobra. Only the most astute Shelby enthusiasts would be able to differentiate it from the OG, and unlike the car that inspired it, this Cobra has plenty of more modern components.

Power comes courtesy of a Roush 427 cubic-inch V8 with an aluminum block, a forged crankshaft, H-beam connecting rods, and forged pistons. The listing fails to mention how much power this Cobra has, but there’s a 5-speed Tremec manual transmission to keep that V8 at its angry point.

It’s not just the engine and transmission that are modern. Superformance has installed adjustable coilover suspension, rack-and-pinion steering, and a big set of brakes with Wilwood calipers at the front and rear. While the car’s design has been lifted straight out of the 1960s, it should drive like a much more modern muscle car.

Superformance’s Cobra MKIII Is Almost As Good As The Real Thing

There’s plenty to like about the car’s interior. For example, it features small bucket seats clad in red leather upholstery with black piping. There is also a wood-rimmed steering wheel, tinted sun visors, an analog clock, and a custom Autosound head unit with a six-disc CD changer.
