By all accounts, the fourth installment in the Bad Boys franchise has been an unmitigated success. It has pushed the franchise past the $1 billion threshold, making $79.24 million worldwide at the time of writing. Making this feat even more impressive is that Bad Boys: Ride or Die has done so in a year that, so far, hasn’t been kind to movies. 2024 has seen a record-low for box office weekends, with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence’s blockbuster providing some welcome respite to the industry.
As always, cars can play an important role in films, with the comedy-action cop duo once again seen behind the wheel of a Porsche for the third time in the franchise’s history. This time around, it’s a 992-generation Porsche 911 Turbo S Coupe featured in the opening sequence.

We also get a short cameo of the first movie’s original 964-generation Porsche 911 Turbo. There’s one more fitting cameo behind the wheel (in fact, the movie is filled with them), but we won’t spoil that for you if you haven’t seen the film yet.
Of course, the original movie didn’t have the same budget as its sequels, which is why the car you see in the 1995 movie actually belonged to director Michael Bay. Bay’s personal vehicle was used to keep costs down but fit perfectly with the Miami cop vibe. In the film, Will Smith’s character was portrayed as a trust fund benefactor, which helped explain how a detective could afford a 911 in the first place.
In the second movie, Detective Lowrey switched allegiances to Ferrari, using a 575M (and a 550 in some shots). But since 2020’s Bad Boys For Life, Porsche has made sure to keep their latest and greatest on display. They even uploaded an extended cut of Smith’s driving sequence, which is longer than what appeared in theaters, and saw Smith’s character pay the 911 Carrera 4S as many compliments as possible.
