• The Dubai Police have added a Tesla Cybertruck to their fleet of eye-catching vehicles.
  • The Cybertruck’s design and livery have been met with mixed reactions.
  • The electric pickup truck will likely patrol popular tourist destinations in the city.

Unplugged Performance’s UP.FIT recently unveiled a menacing Cybertruck that showcased the pickup’s potential as a police vehicle. The Dubai Police should have been paying attention because their take on the electric pickup is terrible.

Looking like a low-res white whale, the Cybertruck wears a traditional white and green livery with police insignias. They’re joined by a roof-mounted light bar as well as lights that are integrated into the front bumper and fender flares.

The Dubai Police didn’t say much about the vehicle, but noted it has been added to their “tourist police luxury patrol fleet” that is more geared towards marketing and public relations than police work. As part of that effort, the Cybertruck will be at the Dubai Mall’s Ice Rink on June 18 so visitors can take pictures with the vehicle.

Elon Musk and Tesla were thrilled with the move as the outspoken executive replied “cool,” while Tesla’s Cybertruck account said “Very cool to see – thanks for the trust!”

Little is known about this particular pickup, but the US-spec Cybertruck is offered in three different guises. The entry-level model starts at $60,990 and features rear-wheel drive, a 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) time of 6.5 seconds, and an estimated range of 250 miles (402 km).

The mid-level model has all-wheel drive and a base price of $79,990. It’s a significant step up as it has an estimated range of 340 miles (547 km) as well as a 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) time of 4.1 seconds.

Customers can also opt for the range-topping Cyberbeast, which begins at $99,990. It has 845 hp (630 kW / 857 PS), a 320 mile (515 km) range, and a 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) time of 2.6 seconds with the rollout subtracted.
