• The Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale received the Best Concept Award at the event.
  • Alpine brought along its new Alpenglow Hy4 Concept, which sounded ballistic.
  • Christian von Koenigsegg drove a CC850 at the exclusive show.

One of the most glamorous events on the automotive calendar took place over the weekend at Villa d’Este in Lake Como, Italy, with the annual Concorso d’Eleganza.

Every year, some of the finest cars on the planet gather in the historic grounds of the iconic 16th-century hotel, and this year’s event attracted some incredible machines. One of the highlights was the fully functional Alpine Alpenglow Hy4 concept, which made its public debut. The car was present at the recent Spa 6 Hours earlier in the month, but electrical issues meant it wasn’t operational.

At the Concorso d’Eleganza, however, the Alpenglow was running nicely. It’s equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine fueled by hydrogen, and while on paper, this engine doesn’t sound very exotic, it sounds marvelous on camera.

Plenty of other incredible cars turned heads over the weekend. These included a McLaren F1 and one of just ten Lotus Type 66 track cars. Last year, Lotus Advanced Performance unveiled the car as a modern interpretation of a classic Can-Am racecar. It’s fitted with a pushrod V8 delivering 830 hp at 8,800 rpm and has a ferocious soundtrack. Christian von Koenigsegg was also in attendance and driving a CC850.

Alfa Romeo also brought along the limited-edition 33 Stradale. It won the Design Concept Award at the event. Other highlights in this video from YouTuber NM2255 include a Lamborghini Diablo GT, Pininfarina Pura Vision Concept, RUF CTR Yellowbird, a 1928 Bugatti Type 35, a 1960 Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato, and the new 2024 BMW Concept Skytop.
