The modern Jeep Grand Wagoneer is luxurious, but a bit soulless compared to its predecessor. That’s why we’re thankful the team at Vigilante created this 1988 restomod with Hellcat power.
Designed to be the “ultimate sleeper,” the build started by media blasting the classic SUV down to bare metal and doing sheet metal repairs. The company then installed new tempered glass, extensive soundproofing, and new 17-inch wheels that have an old school appearance. They’re joined by restored chrome trim, power side steps, and iconic wood grain accents.

The makeover continues in the cabin, where the seats have been rebuilt using new springs, foam, and padding. They were then wrapped in leather and given corduroy inserts.
Elsewhere, the model has sheepskin shag carpeting and new gauges that recall the original ones. The Grand Wagoneer has also been equipped with a modern climate control system for both front and rear passengers.
Power comes from a supercharged 6.2-liter Hellcat Redeye Hemi V8 engine that produces 807 hp (602 kW / 818 PS) and 717 lb-ft (971 Nm) of torque. It’s connected to a Bowler four-speed automatic transmission and an Atlas-II transfer case.
The Jeep also has Dana 44 and 60 axles as well as a four-link Eibach coil suspension that is accompanied by Fox Racing shocks. The latter promise to provide a “more balanced stance and smoother ride quality.” Other highlights include a lift and a six-piston braking system.
The build is undeniably impressive, but the model isn’t cheap as the company is asking $385,000. For comparison, the 2024 Jeep Grand Wagoneer begins at $91,945 before a $2,000 destination fee.
