A 1990 Vector W8 Twin Turbo, one of just 17 examples ever produced, is looking for a new home and is generating quite a lot of buzz in an online auction.

Vector was founded in Wilmington, California, with the mission to build supercars that could rival the best of Ferrari and Lamborghini. The W8 was its second model, and while the company had big ambitions, it didn’t have the funds necessary to go mainstream. Just 17 W8s were produced by the time Vector ceased operations in 1993.

This W8 Twin Turbo is chassis 001 and was initially sold to a member of the Saudi Arabian royal family, also known as the House of Saud. It was kept in Switzerland for a few years before joining the Saudi Prince’s car collection in Los Angeles. The current seller purchased the car back in 1999 and estimates he has driven it 1,700 miles (2,735 km) because the odometer doesn’t work.

Power comes from a 6.0-liter Rodeck V8 with forged aluminum pistons, a forged crankshaft, Carrillo connecting rods, and a pair of Garrett H3 turbochargers with air-to-air aluminum intercoolers. This monster of an engine delivered 625 hp and 630 lb-ft (854 Nm) of torque back in the day and is mated to a three-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels.

Underpinning the W8 is a riveted chassis with an aluminum monocoque and steel tubing. The exterior is finished in Graphite Gray and it sits on bespoke 17-inch wheels designed to mimic the original 16-inch wheels the car left the factory with.

At the time of writing, with over a week left in the auction, bidding on the car had hit $400,000. If you want to place a bid, go to Bring a Trailer.
