The Fortuner might not be the first Toyota SUV that comes to mind when you hear “high-performance,” but that didn’t stop it from serving as the base for the Toyota Hyper-F Concept. The heavily modified off-roader debuted at the Bangkok Auto Salon 2024, featuring a wild body kit and a four-seater cabin.
Designed by TCD Asia (Toyota Customizing & Development) based in Thailand, the visual modifications are extensive, making the Fortuner concept look track-ready. The front sports a massive grille, larger intakes, a splitter, and a vented hood.

The profile sports wide fender extensions, aftermarket wheels shod in Dunlop tires, and deeper side skirts housing the exhaust pipes. The tail is equally bonkers, boasting a massive diffuser and aerodynamic extensions on the fenders and rear spoiler. Inside, the three-row seven-seater layout of the stock Fortuner has been replaced with four individual bucket seats.
Japanese companies Mitsui Chemicals and APRK Corporation supplied some of the high-tech materials for the concept’s development. These include TAFNEX CF/PP, a type of carbon-fiber-reinforced polypropylene resin, while other components were 3D-printed directly from plastic pellets.

There are no details on the technical specifications of the Hyper-F, so what’s under the hood remains a mystery. Still, the company describes it as a “high-performance concept car,” so it likely has some power boost to match its wild looks. Live shots suggest the study rides on lowered suspension and features upgraded brakes.
The current generation of the Toyota Fortuner debuted in 2015, and received a facelift in 2020. The Hilux-based model is a direct competitor to other ladder-frame three-row SUVs like the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, and the Isuzu MU-X.
The sportiest and most powerful version of the Fortuner is the GR Sport trim which is currently available in Thailand. Besides the more aggressive stance, the Fortuner GR Sport is powered by a more potent 2.8-liter turbodiesel producing 221 hp (165 kW / 224 PS) and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft) of torque, matching the Australian-spec Hilux GR Sport.
Toyota is considering a full-blown GR-branded SUV for production, although the truck-based Fortuner is not the most fitting contender. Chances are that the Gazoo Racing department will work on a more road-focused SUV offering based on the road-focused TNGA platform.
